With the cost of flash memory consistently coming down, a MP3 player of at least 1GB is relatively cheap, holding about 20 albums of WMA-128kbps music, usually on "inbuilt" memory, or more flexibly via a SD slot, so you can insert a range of memory cards. Hard-disk players with larger capacity still do attract a premium, but usually have a better screen, offering navigation that can select by album (folder), rather than having to skip through a single list of song titles — a drawback of most smaller machines. If you're around Ipswich (Suffolk-UK), & need your CDs digitised (ripped/encoded) to WMA/MP3, but don't have the time or facilities, we'll do this arduous task, so you can refresh your MP3 player's content regularly (can also be loaded into Itunes for IPODs) — you might rediscover music you'd forgotten you had … We prefer WMA @ 128kbps, each album as a folder (named by artist+title, except compilations) It's best if you can drop off your precious CDs, so you know where they're at ... By leaving CDs in their cases, accurate track naming can be more easily verified. Delivery back within an agreed timeframe can be during a suitable evening slot. As a guide - charges are 60p per CD for small volumes - large collections by negotiation. You get DVDs each holding ~70 albums (playable on players as low as £18, via your TV for easy selection, or even via your stereo's line-in if you're happy to select using an album listing) or optionally CDs with ~12 albums (OK on many home/car systems). Think of the space you'll save — all those dust-prone CDs ! All CDs must be legitimate professionally produced ~ not home-copies ... A few copy-protected CDs may not work - they say "will not play on a PC/Mac" Some MP4-type players support CD cover images - we do NOT deal with these covers ... If you've a karaoke (CD-G) collection, we can discuss encoding these for PC use ... Vinyl records can also be converted, but they do take much longer & so cost much more ...
